On Sunday, 8/15/2004 at 1 PM, a much-larger-than-predicted group of Rugg Relatives got together. The name tags gave out before even half of us arrived ... so a ballpark number would be between 175 and 200 were in attendance. We all had a great time eating the acres of food, making introductions, and catching-up. The younger children played on the equipment and got to know one another.
The older children, of which none seemed to show much shyness, either mingled with the crowds or started conversations to find out who everyone was. Everyone truly seemed to enjoy the festive picnic atmosphere. Thanks to everyone who came and made the day the success that it was. There was a lot of behind-the-scenes work to be done at the park before and after ... so a heartfelt thanks from all of us goes out to those Working Warriors ... you know who you are :D
Plans for next year's reunion are as follows:
The last Sunday of July, at the same park as this year, starting at 1 PM or so. Since there was such a large turn out this year ... next year will truly be one you won't want to miss!
